Hire Howard Plumber to Jet and Install Cleanout On Main Sewer Line

Motion to hire Howard Plumber to jet the main sewer line from 8349 – 8359 and install new cleanout at end of building to make future cleanout easier and without necessity to enter homeowners unit at a price of $3200 per the proposal #9159 dated 11/5/24. Motion brought forth by Ms Fink, seconded by Mr. Payne.

Discussion – 8351 experienced backup from her washer discharge and has water damage to her living room floor. This invoice is forth coming. Steve Seis from Howard cleared the line and camera’d it noting the large amount of buildup in the line. Access to the cleanout was through 8349. Mr Seis is recommending installing a cleanout ahead of the current exterior cleanout at 8359 to allow jetting backwards up the line. The current cleanout behind 8359 is on a Y that points forward in the line towards the street and will only allow jetting in that direction. A cleanout that allows jetting backwards under the building and under the units is necessary to allow the backwash created by the jetting to move forward and out of the pipe instead of backing up into the other lines entering the main. This will also minimize the pressure created and possible damage to the cast iron pipe that is under the buildings. This technique is something we should consider for all the buildings in the future on an as needed basis.
